Precast Floor and Roof Systems 

An introductory course designed to acquaint the design professional with the basic components of precast floor and roof systems. Design options and examples will be presented. The attendee will also see numerous examples of hollow-core planks, solid slabs and double-T systems that have been integrated into building systems.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the process of design and manufacture of precast floor and roof systems.
  • Understand the features and benefits of precast floor and roof systems.
  • Understand the advantage of manufactured precast /prestressed concrete products.
  • Understand other design advantages and consideration specific to integrating precast floor and roof systems into the construction process.

Speaker Bio

Chad is a Manager of Pre-Construction for Fabcon Precast. Chad Van Kampen has extensive experience in design, project management, and pre-construction services with large complex projects centered in the precast construction market. Chad graduated from Calvin University with a Bachelor of Science and Engineering. His work has taken him from South Pacific military bases to high seismic design areas where he has used his experience to expand the industry. Chad has worked on precast and prestressed structural and architectural projects with a focus on conversion of other material to precast and is a leader in promoting alternate reinforcement. Chad has extensive knowledge in the use of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymers), BIM coordination, hybrid framed systems, and pre-construction. With the combination of his knowledge in the sustainability market and the use of alternate reinforcement, Chad can communicate with industry leaders in a manner consistent with the movement of the construction market. An active member with PCI, Chad currently serves on multiple committees and was honored as PCI Fellow in 2022.

This course will award 1 hour of continuing education.
